50 Year Storm – Winter 2024

The event was first formed in 2017 in honour of local legend and big wave lover, Shaun Brooks, who passed away in 2012 after a long mental health battle.

Date TBC - windows for the 50 Year Storm will be held from June 7 to July 7 and August 1 and August 20.

30 invited surfers will compete on the best big wave day of the Winter 2024, honoring a friend and inspiring friends.

The event, focused on mental illness awareness and sharing, takes place when conditions are "the best big day" in the waiting period.
