Kites take to the skies this Sunday

The Surf Coast’s most anticipated family fun event, the Surf Coast Kite Festival, returns this Sunday, October 22.

Members of Jan Juc Preschool community have been out testing their kite-flying skills this week in preparation for the festival.

Organised and presented by the Jan Juc Preschool, the Surf Coast Kite Festival is a true community event.

It is one of the preschool’s biggest fundraising activities of the year, with proceeds from previous years going towards facility upgrades, music program, supporting early detection of learning difficulties and more.

From 10am, the skies at Fisherman’s Beach will be filled with colourful kites, big and small, from tigers to butterflies.

Attendees can bring along a kite or try their hand at making their own creation at the kite making stall.

Throughout the festival there will be an array of activities, food stalls and live entertainment including wildlife displays, African Drumming, soccer clinics, live music, family yoga, arts and craft and much more, ensuring a great day out for families and locals of all ages.

The event is Presented by the Jan Juc Preschool, and sponsored by local businesses including The Surf Coast Times, Torquay Toys, Surf Coast Events, Furry Beach Bums Doggy Daycare, SignTek Imaging, Kurana-maya Medicine and the Great Ocean Road Coast And Parks Authority in partnership with the Victorian Government.

The Surf Coast Kite Festival is a free community event.

The festival is at Fishermans Beach, Sunday, October 22, from 10am-2pm.

All proceeds raised on the day goes towards Jan Juc Preschool.
