Anglesea Regatta

The perfect way to spend your New Year's Day! And the Riverbank Market is just across the river, so come along to spend the afternoon.

Since 1911, the Anglesea Regatta has been a social, community event - including some rowing!

Held on the Anglesea River, the regatta is open to everyone - experienced or first time rowers, the local community and visitors alike. From 12:00pm on New Year's Day, welcome the new year in with fantastic fun rowing races and a sausage sizzle to feed the hungry crowd.

The Anglesea Recreation & Sports Club (AR&SC) was formed in 1911 by a challenge from the lads of Anglesea to those of Aireys Inlet to rowing races. The club has run a rowing regatta on New Year's Day every year since then, in four boats which were purpose built in 1913 by Jas Edwards and Sons (at Princes Bridge in Melbourne). The boats are quite literally unique in the world. They have been maintained in beautiful condition, are registered on the National Maritime Registry.
