Entries are now open to one of Victoria’s premier trail running series for 2022 as the Rapid Ascent Trail Running Series returns to Anglesea on July 31.
The Rapid Ascent Trail Running Series began 10 years ago and over the course of time has built a dedicated following of like-minded runners who
are keen to experience the magic of the trails in a friendly and social atmosphere.
Event organiser Rapid Ascent will welcome runners to experience any of the breathtaking race locations and to immerse themselves in the natural wilderness by foot.
Rapid Ascent general manager Sam Maffett said the event aims to inspire and encourage participants within the series to enjoy all of Victoria’s beautiful trails in a comfortable and enjoyable setting.
“Trail running brings people together and really does offer more than just the enjoyment on the trails – it’s the endorphins, the fitness and health opportunities, and most importantly the friendships that can and have been formed with like-minded people,” Maffett said.
The Anglesea event will feature a short course race that varies in length between 5km and 8km, a medium course race of between 11km and 15km and a long course race that starts at 15km and extends to 23km at its longest.
Competitors are welcome to enter all five races or choose just the ones that suit them. Competitors entering into the Surf Coast event will run on little-known trails, down fun single tracks that pass through scenic landscapes of towering gum trees, trickling creeks, fern-lined valleys and native wildlife – all in a welcoming event environment.
The series, which hits the Surf Coast in July, is supported by many enthusiastic participants and leads the way as Victoria’s most popular trail running events.
“I love the energy and vibe of the Trail Running Series; and I love being able to run in beautiful places I never knew existed,” series competitor Mary said.
Fellow competitor Trudy said: “A fabulous location with great tracks and great people; such a fun and well organised race!”
Maffett said Rapid Ascent was looking forward to kicking the series off this June at Yarra Bend and continuing onto the beautiful coastal town of
Anglesea in late July.

• Yarra Bend Race – Sunday, June 2: 5km/11km/15km
• Smiths Gully Race – Sunday, July 10: 7km/14km/18km
• Anglesea Race – Sunday, July 31: 8km/15k /23km and Friendly 4km
• Plenty Gorge – Sunday, September 4: 7km/13km/18km
• Silvan Race – Sunday, October 16: 8km/15km/21km and Kids Run.
