Thousands of local residents descended on the Lorne Foreshore over the weekend for the Lorne Market, which raised over $7,000 for Lorne P-12 College.

Saturday’s event featured more than 100 stalls and artisan displays, including handmade goods, local produce and secondhand clothing and gifts.

Live music was performed on the day by twelve of the college’s bands and ensembles.

Lorne P-12 College principal, Carly Stafford said the general feedback was “it was the best market run in terms of quality and variety”.

“Having been the fifth market we’ve hosted; it was lovely to see many familiar faces and to welcome back regular stallholders who just love their community and helping our school.

“Lorne is just such an amazing community. When there’s a need, our community bands together and helps.

Ms Stafford said all the funds raised from market stallholder fees will be used to help construct a new playground and gym equipment at the college.

“We’ve got a large area left at the front of the school which will be converted into a new playground and some fantastic new exercise equipment.

“More play space will allow our kids, and our community to enjoy being active. It also fits a nice niche, as there isn’t anything really like it in Lorne.

“It’ll have slides, sensory gardens, paths, a water river, and plenty of fun upper body, lower body and cardio challenges.

“Our parents, teachers and especially our students are so keen to see it come to life in the near future.”
