LOCAL makers and producers are gearing up for summer as the Anglesea Twilight Market returns on December 6.
Across 10 dates, market stalls will fill the grounds of the Anglesea Community House precinct offering products from local garlic growers, wineries and distilleries through to jewellers, artists, woodworkers and more.
Market coordinator Helen Kline said the event has a great mix of local, handmade growers and makers.
“The other great thing about it is that it’s become a little platform for local musicians as well, we’ve had some great young kids from Lorne P-12 and Surf Coast Secondary come and really gain confidence and launch them off into great things.”
The market originally began around five years ago as a farmers market model and in last year expanded to invite more local artisans to the event.
Ms Kline said the new format had worked well and become popular with the locals, visitors and store holder alike.
“For me, it’s been great to meet all the local people and see the market grow and we all have a really good camaraderie.”
Ms Kline said for the stall holders, a night market fel6 entirely different, with a waitlist for those wanting to be involved.
“Even though it’s a late finish, it’s a much more relaxing vibe and everyone just enjoys having a bit of a chat.”
A gold coin donation is appreciated at the gate, with last year’s market season raising more than $15,000 for the Community House.
The markets will run from 4.30pm until 8pm on alternating Fridays throughout December and February, every Friday in January and finish on March 7.
